Whipped Body Butter

  • 1 cup organic coconut oil
  • 1 cup organic solid cocoa butter (do not use lotion)
  • 15 drops of your favorite topical/aromatic essential oil (we love Cedarwood, Lavender, and Frankincense essential oils)

  1. Warm a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat, then add coconut oil and cocoa butter. Melt until completely liquefied, about 4–5 minutes.
  2. Pour into a glass mixing bowl and place in refrigerator for 30–45 minutes to cool and just set but not harden.
  3. Stir in essential oils.
  4. Using an electric hand mixer, whip until firm peaks form, about 10 minutes.
  5. Gently transfer to a seal-able jar or container. Store at room temperature to avoid melting or solidifying.
  6. Massage into dry skin!

Cheesy Sweet Potato Bites

  • 1½ tablespoons olive oil, plus extra for greasing
  • Black Pepper Vitality™
  • 2 sweet potatoes, unpeeled
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 ounces fresh mozzarella, thinly sliced (optional)
  • 2 avocados
  • 2 drops Lemon Vitality™
  • 1 drop Lime Vitality™
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • ¼ teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1–2 Roma tomatoes, seeded and diced
  • 1 tablespoon cilantro, chopped

  1. Place oven racks in upper and lower thirds of your oven and preheat to 425⁰ F. Line two rimmed baking sheets with foil and lightly coat with olive oil.
  2. Dip a toothpick into Black Pepper Vitality essential oil and swirl the toothpick in 1½ tablespoons olive oil. Continue blending essential oil and olive oil until you’ve reached your desired flavor.
  3. Scrub sweet potatoes until clean and cut into ½-inch slices. Arrange in a single layer on greased baking sheets, then brush sweet potato tops with olive oil mixture. Sprinkle slices with salt. Roast for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown underneath.
  4. If you’re not using mozzarella, flip slices and roast for an additional 10 minutes or until cooked through. If you are using mozzarella, remove sweet potatoes from the oven at 8 minutes, top with a mozzarella slice, return to oven, and bake for remaining 2 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
  5. Remove baking sheets from oven and set aside to cool slightly.
  6. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, use a fork to mash together avocados, Lemon Vitality, Lime Vitality, lime juice, chili powder, and garlic.
  7. Top slices with a dollop of avocado mixture and garnish with chopped tomatoes and cilantro. Season with additional salt and pepper to taste.

No Resolutions for the New Year, just a Word (or 3)

I know, it’s the new year and I’m supposed to be setting all of my resolutions – so I can start breaking them here in a few weeks. Well, I’m not doing that this year. I am slowly but surely learning that it’s Progress and not Perfection that I need, and so instead of setting really big goals that overwhelm me, I’m just continuing on with small steps that I can actually check off my list.

And speaking of goals, I learned something from the amazing Dr. Jim Bob Haggerton that was mind-blowing. He offered us a really inspirational online class on December 29th to help get us ready for 2017. And he explained something I hadn’t heard before, which is the difference between Desires and Goals. Get this – a Goal you can do yourself. Like, you want to work out 3 times a week or stop drinking diet soft drinks – that is something you can do on your own. But a Desire requires other people. WHAT? You can Desire more family time, or you can Desire to rank up in Young Living, but those things require other people to help you do that. The other members of your family have to participate in that family time. And nobody can rank up without an awesome team helping push them upwards. BOOM. But my Goals can help me get to my Desires as long as I get the necessary people on my bus.

So what am I doing with that? Well, I am really sorting out what I can do myself and what I need help to get done. And can I just say that is taking a huge burden off of my shoulders knowing that I don’t have to do it ALL BY MYSELF! Whew!

And it all starts with my Word for the Year. I only learned of this practice a few years ago. It’s about praying for God to reveal a single word that you will work and pray on for that year that will guide you on His path that He has chosen for you. I thought back in November that I had my Word, and then I got another Word. So I kept praying about it to see which one was really my Word and then you know what – I got a THIRD Word. Seriously. That night listening to Dr. Jim Bob give his spirit-filled teaching, I got that third Word and realized that they were all connected and would lead me down my path for 2017.

The things that I want, Consistency and More, will only come with Obedience. I won’t go into all of the boring details of where those first 2 words came from , but I will tell you that if you haven’t read “Anything” by Jennie Allen, just do it. But only if you are ready to surrender yourself to God’s will for your life, and to accept that He indeed has bigger plans for your life that you can’t even imagine.

So that’s it. Obedience. I admit I kind of suck at that which is why I am going to work and pray on it this year. And I can’t wait to see what happens when I walk in Obedience to Abba, our Father.

“Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.” Deuteronomy 5:33

So I am daily working on keeping lists of what I can get done to reach my goals. And do them even if I don’t want to, and do them consistently so that I do not lose progress and credibility. Progress – not Perfection. This keeps me going step by step.

My prayer for you in 2017 is that you will find YOUR word, and that you will choose to walk closer to God and accept the gifts he has for YOU!
